Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for creating unique and engaging online content for the Town of Little Elm. The content will act as a means to drive interest and engagement in the Town of Little Elm. The Digital Content Specialist will be responsible for obtaining information from subject matter experts and sharing it via digital channels including but not limited to social, web, blogs, etc.

The Digital Content Specialist will have an opportunity to work in a community that is one of the fastest growing and most exciting suburbs in the USA.  The candidate must be highly motivated and strive for success by demonstrating Little Elm’s Core Values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency, and Innovation.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

1.            Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications or related field preferred.


2.            Five (5) years of experience in journalism, communications, or creating digital content for press releases, blogs, social media, and other public information. 

 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

1.             Must be bondable.

2.             Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

1.             Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. 

2.             Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.

 

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

1.             Ability to establish and meet deadlines.

2.             Self-motivated.

3.             Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with supervisors and other personnel.

4.             Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.

5.             Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer and other electronic devices.

6.             Skills in coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.

7.             Demonstrated writing experience for various media types.

8.             Hands-on skills with a proven track record of working on a deadline.

9.             A desire to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
 
10.           Experience with multiple forms of media from both a user and content creator perspective.

11.           Experience with the mechanics of adding content to media platforms.

12.           Ability to creatively generate interesting and compelling content.

13.           Experience with website analytics, search engine optimization, content platforms.
  
14.           A passion for delighting clients by adding value and being highly proactive.

15.           Must have excellent written and verbal skills.

 

REASONING ABILITY

1.             Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

2.             Comprehensive ability to disseminate information quickly and perform tasks under pressure with short deadlines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and be able to push and pull up to eighty (80) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT               

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Primarily office environment with some field work to get information.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                   

1.             Write unique content for blogs, web pages, press releases, and social media platforms

2.             Develop and execute internal communications, informational content for neighborhoods, and other pieces of information that will inform employees or the public about Town related topics. 

3.             Work with other departments to ensure all data on Town web page is accurate and up to date

4.             Develop and execute a process for adding content to all media platforms

5.             Create compelling content that drives enhanced search engine rankings

6.             Demonstrate the Town’s core values of Customer Service, Integrity, Innovation, and Efficiency

7.             Attend town events to promote the Town’s image and services

8.             Perform any special duties as assigned by the supervisor
