JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to assist with streets and drainage maintenance work for the town. Employees in this class exercise appropriate safety precautions in operating assigned equipment to ensure personal, public, and personnel safety. Position is responsible working independently or as part of a work crew, depending on nature of assigned tasks. Performs related work as directed.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; with six (6) months of previous experience that demonstrates ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the essential functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
1. Must be bondable.
2. Requires ability to obtain a Class “A” Texas Commercial Drivers License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
1. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and community.
3. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.

12. Ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines, drive vehicles and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to (80) eighty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Outdoor environment; exposure to conditions of construction and Public Works project sites including loud noises, dust, heavy vehicles and equipment; exposure to inclement weather; exposure to traffic and other hazards while conducting field inspections; exposure to moving vehicles and equipment, slippery surfaces, and other related conditions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs streets maintenance and repair work in both asphalt and concrete mediums.
2. Prepares for pouring concrete and laying asphalt, to include mixing by hand where applicable.
3. Prepares for work orders through loading tools and materials; cleans such after use.
4. Participates in traffic control activities.
5. Prepares assigned equipment for safe and efficient operating condition by inspecting prior to and after use.
6. Monitors vehicle fluid levels and refuels as needed; performs minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment, i.e., lubricating, cleaning.
7. Performs installation, maintenance and repair tasks on various structures, i.e., sidewalks, driveways, street signs, drainage pipe.
8. Utilizes various manual, gas, and hand held tools and equipment in maintenance and repair tasks, i.e., shovels, rakes, brooms, saws, hammers, wrenches.
9. Utilizes various vehicles and equipment in maintenance and repair tasks as needed, i.e., service trucks, front end loaders, compactors, and jack hammers.
10. Cleans/clears debris and refuse from work areas; installs grass or sod where applicable
