JOB SUMMARY

The Deputy Court Clerk performs general duties in the municipal court of law as assigned by the Court Administrator. Duties include but are not limited to: a) provide daily customer service contact with the general public regarding citations, complaints and other Municipal Court proceedings; b) receipt and record the payment of court fees and/or fines; c) Helps prepare case jackets, posts, and files or routes court documents. The candidate must be highly motivated and strive for success by demonstrating Little Elm’s Core Values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency, and Innovation. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years relevant experience in Municipal Court.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Process traffic, parking, penal code and city ordinance violations.
  2. Accept payment of municipal court fines, bonds, defensive driving certificates and driving records
  3. Accounts for monies collected by the municipal court on a daily basis and prepares daily deposit
  4. Assists with preparation of court docket, summons of jurors, witnesses and officers subpoenas
  5. Assists with schedule cases for hearings, arraignments, pre-trials, judge and jury trials
  6. General office duties, filing, and other administrative duties as assigned
  7. Answers questions and gives information, either by telephone or in person, to citizens, attorneys, litigants, and other law enforcement or state agencies.

 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  1. Must be bondable.
  2. Prefer Municipal Court Clerk Level 1 Certification.
  3. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  2. Bilingual preferred, not required.
  3. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.

 

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment in a friendly and courteous manner.
  2. Self-motivated with the ability to establish and meet deadlines
  3. Positive attitude in dealing with the public, judge, court administrator and co-workers.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.
  5. Possess basic level computer skills in the use of PC based spreadsheet and word processing applications, preferably MS Excel and MS Word.
  6. Requires considerable knowledge of the practices and procedure of the municipal court system, including

confidentiality requirements. Perform any and all ministerial duties as assigned.

  1. Requires the ability to exercise professionalism, tact, courtesy and firmness in frequent contact with defendants,

outside agencies and court officials.

  1. Skills coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.
  2. A person who can build on a culture of Servant Leadership.
  3. An individual who must operate under the Town’s four core values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency and

Innovation.

 

REASONING ABILITY

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  2. Comprehensive ability to disseminate information quickly and perform tasks under pressure with short deadlines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
