JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Recreation Manager and/or Special Events and Programs Manager, plans, creates, develops and implements recreational, social and informational programs, services, and activities for all ages and interests in the community. Provides customer service, supervises contract vendors and instructors, and maintains the internal/external area of the Recreation Center.
 
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, leisure studies, physical education, public administration, business administration, or related field preferred. Two years of recreation program administration experience including some administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
 
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within three months from date of employment. Must have or obtain Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor within 6 months (Athletics and Aquatics Coordinator) Must be bondable. Valid Texas Drivers License
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.  
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
Ability to establish and meet deadlines. Self-motivated. Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment. Ability to collect, analyze and present data in report form. Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer; prefer experience with Microsoft office, ActiveNet and Adobe Suite 6 Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with the public, customers, staff and city administration. Skills coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, customers of the Recreation Center. Ability to plan, coordinate, organize and supervise the activities and programs related to Recreation Center. Extensive knowledge of recreational programming and skills in promoting recreational facilities. Possession of excellent interpersonal skills with customers from various backgrounds, staff and city administration. Ability to understand and adhere to personnel and purchasing policies as well as accounting principles. Ability to schedule and coordinate the work of others. Ability to work varied shifts including nights and weekends.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to comprehend complex policies, procedures, regulations, and organizational structures.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and be able to push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – ATHLETICS AND AQUATICS COORDINATOR
Creates, plans, develops, implements and evaluates sports programs and services. Schedules, coordinates and manages sports league play. Schedules sports field and court reservations. Collects registration and reservation fees and maintains detailed records in Activenet. Develops and implements athletic policy. Works closely with Little Elm Area Youth Sports Association, and Little Elm ISD. Develops and oversees sports camps, clinics and classes. Directly oversees aquatics Learn to Swim program. Works closely with Home Owners Associations (HOA) where swim lessons are held. Supervises seasonal staff for aquatics program.
  1. Recruits, trains, oversees, coordinates, schedules and evaluates assigned staff, contracted instructors and volunteers.
  2. Responds to and resolves customer complaints, questions and suggestions related to the Recreation Division programs, activities, services and special events.
  3. Assists in hiring, training, evaluating, scheduling, and supervising part-time recreation center staff.
  4. Assists in evaluating and implementing policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and productivity of the recreation center and its programs.
  5. Assists in creating and managing budget for related area.
  6. Interacts with public and staff on a daily basis; answer inquires, resolve complaints, grievances, and emergencies and assist patrons as needed.
  7. Assists in coordinating and implementing financial management functions.
  8. Monitors and schedules activities at the Recreation Center and enforce safety policies.
  9. Checks out equipment; and perform light maintenance on equipment as needed.
  10. Performs facility opening and/or closing procedures.
  11. Administers general maintenance and routine cleaning of facilities and equipment.
  12. Assists in preparing departmental marketing and promotional initiatives.
  13. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, area businesses, and other agencies.
  14. Works special events as assigned.

  16. Creates, plans, develops, implements and evaluates fitness programs and services based on surveys and assessment of needs and interests of community participants.
  17. Plans, coordinates and evaluates recreational programs and classes.
  18. Oversees membership sales and drives.
  19. Coordinates and manages the Town Wellness Program.
  20. Develops, coordinates and manages Recreation Center special events.
  21. Coordinates and manages community-wide fitness programs.
  22. Creates, plans and manages children’s holiday camps and in-service programs.
  23. Oversees Birthday Party program.
  24. Books classes and maintains detailed records in Activenet.

  67. Recruit, train, oversee, coordinate, schedules and evaluate assigned staff, contractors, custodians and volunteers.
  68. Liaisons and/or works with relevant boards, community organizations, and volunteer associations in matters concerning current, proposed and future utilization, development, improvement and expansion of the Town services and activities.
  69. Coordinate all scheduling of facilities, volunteers, resources, vendors, and funding for community festivals, events, and special projects. 
  70. Develop sponsorship relationships and funding opportunities.
  71. Create sponsorship proposals and agreements.
  72. Serves as an administrator of the Town’s Special Events Committee.
  73. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, area business representatives and other agencies.
  74. Negotiates and coordinates event contracts with vendors; obtains required license agreements and permits for each event; ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  75. Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; implements approved policies and procedures.
