JOB SUMMARY
The Frontline Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Wastewater Treatment division within the Public Works Department. The incumbent will ensure the effective operation of the wastewater treatment plant, leading a crew in the operation, repair, and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including lift stations, clarifier's, aeration basins, pumps, motors, and various other components. Incumbent will be responsible for managing operations in a manner that ensures compliance with the current permit.
This role involves hands-on participation in tasks, utilizing equipment, tools, and staff to complete assigned duties. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to manage daily operations, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving the wastewater treatment infrastructure. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma/ GED; some college preferred; training programs on wastewater collections and lift station maintenance; plus, three (3) years of wastewater treatment experience.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES.
- Must possess a Wastewater Treatment Class “C” License issued by the TCEQ.
- Ability to obtain a Class “B” Wastewater Treatment license from the TCEQ within one year of hire.
- Must possess a valid Class “A” CDL issued by the State of Texas.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or local business community members.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with supervisors and other personnel.
- Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer.

- The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with city staff, supervisors, residents, and vendors.

- Experience in prioritizing, planning, and scheduling; works independently without specific instructions or supervision.
- Use tact and diplomacy with the public and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and be entrepreneurial, energetic, and imaginative.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Skilled in the use of a variety of machines, including, but not limited to, radio, personal computers, telephone, calculators, facsimile machines, and copiers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate various machines, drive vehicles and/or equipment, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to (80) eighty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Make sure that material and equipment are on hand and available for tasks assigned to work crews.
- Coordinates job assignments and equipment operations daily.
- Checks work quality and quantity of wastewater treatment crews.
- Determines at a street level how to implement and facilitate a new program.
- Ensures the town's equipment, tools, and infrastructure are used in a safe manner.
- Ensures staff is trained on the appropriate usage of the town’s equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
- Directs staff and helps with all daily operations of running the wastewater treatment plant.
- Helps develop recommendations for equipment, tools, and infrastructure needed.
- Helps set standards and guidelines needed during the operation of the Wastewater Division.
- Checks wastewater treatment plant for optimum operation.
- Maintains TCEQ required paperwork.
- Ensures that the plant conforms to current permit limits.
