Description

JOB SUMMARY

Frontline supervisor over the Wastewater Plant Operations of the Wastewater Division to ensure repair, maintenance of the treatment infrastructure including facilities, properties, equipment system are maintained in excellent operational status. Includes but not limited to the use of mechanical equipment, laboratory equipment, tools, staff, in a direct participation of activities necessary to completing assigned tasks. The candidate must be highly motivated and strive for success by demonstrating Little Elm’s Core Values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency, and Innovation.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma/ GED; some college courses preferred; training programs on waste water operations; plus three (3) years waste water plant operations experience.

 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  1. Must be bondable.
  2. Class “B” Wastewater Treatment License issued by TCEQ
  3. Ability to acquire Texas Class “A” CDL within six (6) months

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.

  1. Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
  2. Self motivated.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with supervisors and other personnel.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.
  5. Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer.
  6. Skills coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.
  7. Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with city staff, supervisors, residents, and vendors.
  8. Must have the ability to perform tasks under pressure, with short deadlines and the ability to work overtime and flexible hours as necessary.
  9. Must have the ability to participate in the development and administration of division goals, objectives and procedures.
  10. Experience in prioritizing, planning, and scheduling, works independently in the absence of specific instructions or supervision.
  11. Use tact and diplomacy with public, and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  12. Must possess strong organizations skills and be entrepreneurial, energetic, and imaginative.
  13. Good verbal and written communications skills are essential.
  14. Skilled in the use of a variety of machines, including, but not limited to, radio, personal computers, telephone, calculators, facsimile machine and copiers.

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  2. Must have the ability to comprehend policies, procedures, regulations, organizational structures, etc. verbally, written in a short timeframe.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines, drive vehicles and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to (80) eighty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Primarily field environment with some office work.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Makes sure that material, and equipment is on hand and available for tasks assigned to work crews.
  2. Coordinates job assignments and equipment operations on a daily basis.
  3. Checks work quality and quantity of waste water plant crews.
  4. Determines at a street level how to implement a new program and to facilitate the program.
  5. Ensures the towns equipment, tools, and infrastructure is used in a safe manner.
  6. Ensures staff is trained on the appropriate usage of town’s equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
  7. Directs staff, helps with all daily operations of running waste water system.
  8. Helps develop recommendations of equipment, tools, and infrastructure needed.
  9. Helps set standards, and guidelines needed during the operation of the Waste Water Division.
  10. . Checks waste water plant operation system for optimum operation
  11. Ensures daily and monthly reports are maintain
  12. Helps with NetDMR as needed
