Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the Fitness Coordinator, provides excellent customer service to members in the fitness areas. Works with members, participants and guests developing and monitoring fitness programs, including cardiovascular exercise, strength training and flexibility. Proper maintenance and care of equipment, including regular cleaning, is also a necessary requirement of this position.

 

The Fitness Attendant will have an opportunity to work in a newly expanded recreation center in a community that is one of the fastest growing and most exciting suburbs in the USA. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 18 years old and have six (6) months customer service or public contact experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED.

 

 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  1. Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within three weeks from date of employment.
  2. Must be bondable.
  3. Valid Texas Drivers License
  4. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Notary Public License
  5. FITNESS CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.

 

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

  1. Knowledge of customer service practices and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of fitness equipment and current physical activity guidelines.
  3. Knowledge of Town policies and procedures.
  4. Experience in helping members of various ages and fitness levels.
  5. Skill in oral and written communications.
  6. Skill in monitoring departmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  7. Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
  8. Skill in implementing departmental rule, procedures and objectives.
  9. Performs CPR, Rescue Breathing and First Aid as needed.
  10. Experience establishing personal relationships and assisting members.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  12. Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
  13. Communicate and maintain maintenance log with equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
  14. Knowledge of current fitness trends, innovations, programs and ideas.

 

REASONING ABILITY

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  2. Ability to comprehend complex policies, procedures, regulations, and organizational structures.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and be able to push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Primarily office environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides customer service to all participants in activities and programs at area of assignment.
  2. Promptly greet prospective members and directs them for further assistance.
  3. Responds to inquiries related to programs, services and special events.
  4. Distributes recreation and fitness equipment to customers.
  5. Ensures Recreation Center common areas are cleaned and maintained all times.
  6. Opens and closes facilities according to established policies and procedures.
  7. Monitors facility activities for participant compliance with health and safety rules.
  8. Prepares accident and incident reports when indicated.
  9. Maintains and updates supply list for assigned area.
  10. Be visible and provide guidance and support for members in the fitness center.
  11. Take members through equipment orientation appointments, following the safety and recreation center procedures.
  12. Clean all equipment and program areas, ensure towels and provided and cleaning supplies for members.
  13. Communicate and maintain maintenance log with equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
  14. Promote and help implement fitness events and programs including personal training.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
