JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Senior Center Coordinator and related management team, performs customer service duties at the front desk of the Senior Center.  Monitors activities of participants, sets up and break down activities, helps prepare and promote senior activities and provides program and membership information to customers.
 
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years old and have six (6) months customer service or public contact experience.  High school diploma or GED.
 
 
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
  1. Must possess current CPR and First Aid Certification within six months from date of employment. 
  2. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check and post-offer physical agility exam. 
  3. May be required to possess a valid State of Texas Drivers License.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  1. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.
 
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
  1. Knowledge of customer service practices and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software including Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  3. Knowledge of Town policies and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of money handling practices and procedures.
  5. Skill in oral and written communications.
  6. Skill in monitoring departmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  7. Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
  8. Skill in implementing departmental rule, procedures and objectives.
  9. Performs CPR, Rescue Breathing and First aid as needed.
  10. Reconciles receipts and cash register at end of shift.
  11. Maintains and updates supply list for assigned area.
  12. Help with programming events and activities.
  13. Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
  14. Quickly and efficiently set up and break down tables and equipment for daily activities and special events.
  15. Assist on trips.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
REASONING ABILITY
  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished by management in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  2. Ability to comprehend complex policies, procedures, regulations, and organizational structures.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to forty-five (45) pounds and be able to push and pull up to sixty (60) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Primarily office environment.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  
  1. Provides customer service to all participants in activities and programs at area of assignment.
  2. Checks-in members and guests into the Senior Center
  3. Promptly greet prospective members and directs them for further assistance.
  4. Responds to inquiries related to programs, services and special events.
  5. Helps develop programming and promotional material.
  6. Ensures Senior Center common areas are cleaned and maintained all times.
  7. Opens and closes facilities according to established policies and procedures.
  8. Monitors facility activities for participant compliance with health and safety rules.
  9. Prepares accident and incident reports when indicated.
  10. Answers and transfers calls in a timely and professional manner
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
