JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Animal Services Supervisor provides respectful, courteous, and friendly customer service to all residents, business owners, and property owners. Candidate displays composure, a helpful attitude, integrity, and professionalism in all circumstances, including stressful and other adverse conditions. Primary duties include Animal Services duties including but not limited to: assisting in the animal shelter, assisting in the receiving, redeeming and adoption of animals at the shelter.
The Animal Services Officer will have an opportunity to work in a community that is one of the fastest growing and most exciting suburbs in the USA. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is preferred. One or more years of animal control work, customer service, or related experience preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Must be bondable.
- Basic Animal Control Officer Certification preferred or the ability to complete within six months of employment.
- Euthanasia certified preferred or ability to complete within six months of employment.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.
- Bilingual communicative skills are preferred

- Skilled in providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Knowledge of animal care and handling principals
- Knowledge of animal behavior
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing methods
- Skilled in caring for animals
- Skilled in handling difficult animals
- Ability to lift animals into a transport vehicle unassisted.
- Skilled in applying independent judgment and personal discretion.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with supervisors and other personnel.
- Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.
- Skills coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.
- Work effectively when surrounded by loud noises.
- Must have basic skills in personal computer operations to include Microsoft Office suite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50-75 lbs. unassisted; walk, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, stoop, bend, twist, climb, see, talk, hear, and write. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a combination of office and field environment. Position requires work indoors, underground, outdoors, in confined spaces, in trenches, on level, slippery, sloping, and unstable and muddy terrain; and work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather, hazardous conditions including mechanical, electrical, fume odor, dust/mist, chemical, and toxic waste hazards and other solid waste substances and exposure to insects, noxious plants, snakes, etc
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ability to provide enforcement related services with utmost professionalism, positive attitude, and a customer service mindset including with irate citizens.
- Responds, orally and in writing, to requests for code interpretation and application from citizens.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records, compiles data and reports; utilizes information as witness for prosecution in court cases; and prepares, processes and issues notices or citations for violations of applicable codes, regulations or laws and follows through with appropriate actions.
- Coordinates related projects with other Town departments and outside agencies.
- Adheres to personnel, safety, and departmental rules and regulations.
- Informs supervisor of all work-related activities.
- Assists other co-workers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be available to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed.
- Must to work varied shifts.
- Must be able to be on-call as needed.
