Description

The Little Elm Police Department is pleased to announce the 12th session of our Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA), taking place March 19 through June 11. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, located at 88 W. Eldorado Parkway. Please note that a limited number of sessions may vary in time or location; any changes will be communicated as the course progresses.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to strengthen understanding, communication, and trust between the Police Department and the community we proudly serve. Participants receive a transparent, behind-the-scenes look at department operations and gain insight into how our officers work each day to keep Little Elm safe.

While the CPA provides an in-depth overview of police procedures and responsibilities, it is not a traditional police academy and does not train participants to become law enforcement officers. Instead, it offers an educational and engaging experience that fosters meaningful connections between residents and their police department.

There is no cost to participate in the Citizen’s Police Academy.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with members of several specialized units, including:

  • Drone Unit
  • Hostage/Crisis Negotiations Team
  • Traffic Unit
  • SWAT
  • K9 Unit
  • Other specialized teams

Each session is designed to be informative, interactive, and engaging.

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Reside or work within the Town of Little Elm
  • Successfully pass a background check

Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. Due to the structured nature of the program, we ask for a strong commitment to attend each session in order to successfully complete the academy. Applicants who do not reside or work in Little Elm may be considered if space is available.

For additional information or questions, please contact Officer Joe Santos at Joe.Santos@littleelm.gov.

We look forward to welcoming our next class and sharing this unique experience with our community.
