JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Business Development Supervisor is responsible for developing and supervising the implementation of marketing strategies and initiatives to support the events and businesses in the Town of Little Elm. This position works independently and has autonomy over that function.

The Marketing and Business Development Supervisor uses discretion and independent judgment in establishing and attaining the long-term marketing goals of each Lakefront Business and Town event by formulating an annual marketing strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. The Marketing and Business Development Supervisor oversees website management, digital and print advertising, as well as social media and radio marketing for the Town of Little Elm. The position will create and oversee budgets across multiple departments to achieve set goals.

The Marketing and Business Development Supervisor oversees the Lakefront Merchant Association, by implementing a business plan and building key relationships with our Lakefront business owners to identify business opportunities and marketing strategies to grow revenue for each individual business.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field, or three (3) years of related experience. Social Media strategy experience desired.


LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  1. Must be bondable.
  2. Valid Texas Driver’s License.

  2. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

  1. Originating, developing and overseeing creative, engaging, shareable, content-driven stories, posts and live shots for social media, website, blogs, newsletters, and other media platforms.
  2. Developing a comprehensive marketing business plan for each business and event, in alignment with its financial objectives.
  3. Creating and overseeing annual budgets across multiple areas.
  4. Monitor and engage with the audience, responding to comments and messages promptly. Schedule and post content at optimal times to maximize reach and engagement. Maintain strong creative and engaging community presence to engage readers and viewers, driving readership and viewership.
  5. Researches and identifies marketing opportunities, appropriate markets, and best ad placement with regard to ROI for platforms such as radio/TV, digital, Google Ads, social media, and print.
  6. Regularly report the success of advertising and marketing efforts with regard to ROI, reach/views, engagement and adjusts marketing plans when necessary.
  7. Oversees marketing strategies and campaigns, ensuring they are executed within appropriate time frames with regard to the Town editorial calendar and the editorial calendars of its departments.
  8. Create and approve visually appealing and engaging content, including graphics, videos, and written content for social media platforms.
  9. Creates and produces original content for a wide variety of printed and digital marketing, which may include: writing copy for print, web and television; designing, editing, and overseeing production of collateral materials; attending project meetings and working as part of a team; and/or, performing other related activities.
  10. Execute daily assignments utilizing knowledge of marketing principles and practices, and event planning methods
  11. Develop and implement strategies to increase followers, likes, shares, and engagement on social media.
  12. Participates in media relations activities, which may include: responding to inquiries, drafting, editing, and distributing news releases; alerting the media of photo opportunities; identifying and communicating newsworthy stories; working on-call during emergencies; and/or, performing other related activities.
  13. Using creative photographic techniques to capture stories through photographs and video
  14. Operating autonomously and without constant supervision, subject to occasional check-ins and final editorial review for post, print, and broadcast.
  15. Maintaining composure and professionalism while continuing to execute their duties as Marketing and and Business Development Supervisor, without direction, during live events and briefings. 
  16. Identifying, researching, and interviewing business owners, staff, and the public
  17. Creates, imagines and produces content for a wide variety of printed and digital communications, which may include: writing copy for print, web and television; designing, editing, and overseeing production of collateral materials; attending project meetings and working as part of a team; and/or, performing other related activities.
  18. Create, manage, and monitor social media and ensure that all content and messaging align with the Towns voice, guidelines, and overall marketing strategy.
  19. Consults with staff and businesses to create, update, revise and manage web content; perform regular reviews of web site pages to ensure accuracy, timeliness and relevance.
  20. Participates in media relations activities, which may include: responding to routine inquiries, drafting, editing, and distributing news releases; serving as back-up to the Public Information Officer; alerting the media of photo opportunities; identifying and communicating newsworthy stories; working on-call during emergencies; and/or, performing other related activities.
  21. Participates in the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of major special events; as well as other departmental events.
  22. Works to enhance the experience for Lakefront District visitors through marketing and advertising to increase awareness of the District.
  23. Develops marketing campaigns and communicates with the businesses in The Lakefront District, ensuring each Lakefront business is being promoted appropriately to aid in the development and success of the District.
  24. Supervises and monitors the Lakefront at Little Elm social media channels.
  25. Supervises the Tourism and Marketing Specialist.
  26. Creates, revises, and manages web content, performing regular reviews of website pages to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance.
  27. Participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, teams, and/or other related groups.
  28. Performs other duties as assigned.
  29. Assists other divisions as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
