CDC Board Member:

The Little Elm Community Development Corporation is seeking eligible individuals to fill four open positions. The term will be from October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2027.

The CDC meets quarterly on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at The Rec at the Lakefront.

The Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that provides leadership and funding for projects that enhance and preserve Little Elm’s quality of life.

The eight-member board, which includes seven citizens and one member of the Town Council, oversees and administers the use of funds for a wide variety of projects that benefit residents of Little Elm.

Often called the 4B because of the legislation that created it, the CDC’s seven community volunteers are appointed by the Town Council.

The state legislation which authorized CDCs specifies that funds can be used for, among other things, land, buildings, equipment, facilities, expenditures and improvements for professional and amateur sports facilities, park facilities and events, entertainment, and convention and tourist facilities.

In Little Elm, CDC funds are used primarily for construction projects, parks development, special events, and community improvement activities that help create an atmosphere which embraces the Town as a center for family entertainment and amusement.

The Little Elm Planning and Zoning Commission is the primary advisory board to the Town Council on development issues. The board conducts hearings and makes determinations on requests for variances from and special exceptions to the Town of Little Elm Zoning Ordinance, as specified in the ordinance. Historically, the board has made rulings on substandard buildings and amortization cases, although recent state law changes may require revisions to procedure and venue. The board also has the authority to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that there is an error in an order, requirement, decision, or determination made by any administrative official of the town in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
